"How to Register a Plant for
Judging in the Manitoba Orchid Society Show"



 
To complete the registration form you will require a Show Book. If you do not have a hard copy - you can download one here (put link here) 
 
Please carefully read the following Sections:
     
 " Important notes for our Exhibitors" and "Show rules and regulations"
 
 Here are some examples
As an example, if you wish to register PaphiopedilumGold Dollar" in the photograph below

Follow these steps: 
In the Show book - in the Section entitled "Show Schedule - Classes" - turn to Section E - Paphiopedilum Alliance.
Paphiopedilum Gold Dollar is a primary hybrid (two species crossed to make this hybrid) - Paph.primulinum x Paph. armeniacum . The colour of the petals & labellum are green or yellow - thus in looking at the classes you will find that Class 33  Paphiopedilum hybrids, primary Green/Yellow fits the description of this plant.
 
In the entry form - enter the Class # as 33
                            
enter the Plant Name as Paph Gold Dollar
                           

for the Exhibit # - enter 29 (if entered in the MOS Club Display) or if you have your own display - call Lorne Heshka (204 663-6850) for your exhibit number

Following are two examples for Phalaenopsis

As an example, "if you wish to register the Phalaenopsis hybrid in the photograph below

Follow these steps: 
In the Show book - in the Section entitled "Show Schedule - Classes" - turn to
F Phalaenopsis Alliance
Note: : "Color" of the Phalaenopsis flower is based on the dominant color of the sepals and petals from the back . "Markings" are determined from the front of the flower.

Phalaenopsis,
The colour of the petal from the rear is yellow - and the flower has markings - thus in looking at the classes you will find that Class 70  Phalaenopsis, hybrids and Doritaenopsis,  Yellow with markings, including blushes.-  fits the description of this plant.

In the entry form - enter the Class # as 70
                            
enter the Plant Name as Phalaenopsis

Here is a 2nd example for Phalaenopsis

In the Show book - in the Section entitled "Show Schedule - Classes" - turn to
F Phalaenopsis Alliance

As an example for Dendrobium -  if you wish to register the Dendrobium antennatum in the photograph below

Follow these steps: 

In the Show book - in the Section entitled "Show Schedule - Classes" - turn to
I. Dendrobium

In the Show book - in the Section entitled "Show Schedule - Classes" - turn to Section I. Dendrobium antennatum is a species of the Antelope type -  so Class 95 Phalaenopsis and Antelope types fits this plant..

In the entry form - enter the Class # as 95
                            
enter the Plant Name as Den antennatum
                           
for the Exhibit # - enter 29 (if entered in the MOS Club Display) or if you have your own display - call Lorne Heshka (204 663-6850) for your exhibit number
